The Miracle of Water

I was thinking today as I am often known to do; but this time I was actually feeling a bit frustrated which I usually don’t do so I decided to take a walk with no particular destination in mind figuring I would know where I was going when I got there. So I walked a short distance to a stream near my house, sat down on a boulder, and stared at the flowing water. While observing the movements of the water I noticed something that I knew in theory but never really paid in depth attention to in nature. Water is miraculous.

It never stops moving regardless of the restrictions imposed upon it by outside forces. When I placed my hand in the path of the running water it accepted the form of my hand and flowed around, the water would have done the same thing had it been my leg or my whole body. When I removed my hand the water fell right back into the flow that was present before my hand was inserted in its streaming path. All of this happened and the only thing affected was that now my hand was wet but the constantly moving water eventually evaporated and left me with this message to share and repeat with some additional insight.

It has already been stated that water will take on the form of what ever container it is put in and water will change form immediately upon being released from the container. Now let us think about the adverse when form are placed in water, the water will accept the forms as is without any resistance on the waters behalf. The waters will effortlessly shift in order to accomplish this feat and once the obstruction is removed the water returns to it previous state.

The question is why does water do this or better yet what is water trying to accomplish in its journey? Water is flowing from its source in search of its source and it will continue its movement until it arrives. This movement occurs in the cycle of evaporation condensation precipitation and the water never stops moving toward its ultimate goal of discovering source, Once it locate its source it jumps right back into the flow as if to go lead other water along this same journey.

Now how does this apply to life and the people who live it; well taking water’s example we must strive to become the path of least resistance in the accomplishment of our goal(s) in life. People often seek the least path of resistance to accomplishment but since they do not become the path they seek to travel the path of least resistance turns out to be anything but…

At this point people tend to take hold of the adage “Life is Hard” but life is hard because we are hard. If we would soften ourselves life would in turn soften because life is who we are not to mention that our bodies are composed primarily of….you guessed it…water.

So start right now flow in to the smoothness that is the model example of your life. For example the time you would spend screaming at your windshield because someone cut you off in traffic could be used to smoothly shift lanes and keep with the flow of traffic. Whatever that flow is; be it snail or cheetah move with it instead of against it. Sometimes there will be detours, construction and even accidents that will inhibit or redirect the flow of traffic prevent you from reaching your destination when you intended. For this reason it is important to become familiar with alternative routes to/from everywhere you travel on a regular basis that you may be able to move where there is an opening just like water.

Initially you will have to work at this as you have to work at all things when you are trying them out for the first time but in time it will become second nature like walking or chewing your food and you won’t even have to think about it. There will be a blockage in your life and you will just flow around it and someone nearby will be amazed and they will ask how did you do that?

You will provide them with the very esoteric response…”It’s the miracle of water.”

....Wow. You have hit the proverbial nail on the head. Must you anaylze everything...? LOL. Apparently..but thank God you do because when you do it, you make sense.

Being in MN, you are always close to water...Myself, I have a lakes within 2 miles of me on every side of my neighborhood. I spent a few hours sitting on a dock in the bay of one of these lakes( the biggest one), just soakin it all in. And since it was a hot day, I had a bathing suit on underneath my clothes and eventually dove in and took a long swim. This time of year, I am almost always on, in or near water. Wakeboarding, swimming, out on someone's boat, ridin with someone on a jet ski, barbecuing lakeside or along a river, u name it. And when I can make it to the ocean, I like to bodyboard and occasionally I surf too. When I am out on my runs, I make a habit of, if they are near the sidewalk or side of street, running through every sprinkler. If my timing is off and it's going the opposite way, I run in place until it comes back around LOL hehe. Humans are drawn to water because we, as well as all animal and plant life, would not exist without it.

One of my fave songs of all time by the great Otis Redding spoke of sittin' on the dock in the bay as being a waste of time. Far from the truth..

'Sup Naz. I've been a long time fan on Myspace and am glad to find you here expounding on the deeper mysteries of the universe. I had one of your pieces on my main page for months. I loved to hear that powerful "STOP ACTIN'. . ." everytime I went to check my comments! Anyway, I have a page of my own, which is in the rebuilding phase after having been neglected for almost a year. What can I say, life sometimes dictates priorities. I'll be adding links again soon, and yours will be included. Keep it coming and I'll keep coming!

Living, loving, laughing,

Hmmm. . .a revelation. All living things are made up of it, need it to survive. Maybe God is water. . .

Your descripition of the revelation you felt when noticing water's flow reminds me of a very connected experience I had recently. I was walking through Piney Creek and I came upon the occasional pools of polluted, oily water- which is stagnant- somehow trapped between rocks and trash in our otherwise lovely DC creeks. While looking at it, a feeling of great sadness washed over me.
